Overview
Senior Project Engineer responsible for designing and executing DCS engineering activities in Service or Greenfield projects with medium to large complexity for the Energy Industries division in Bangalore, India.
What you'll do
- Execute assigned automation and control system projects, including control logic development, HMI configuration, testing (IFAT/FAT), commissioning, and site acceptance activities.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as design specifications, technical documentation, test procedures, and bill of materials while ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership to project teams, resolve technical queries, conduct design reviews, and ensure high-quality project deliverables.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to monitor project progress, manage risks, address technical challenges, and meet contractual commitments.
- Participate in commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical discussions with customers while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Contribute to proposal development, continuous improvement initiatives, design reviews, and implementation of best engineering practices to enhance project execution efficiency.
What you'll need
- 8-10 years of experience in Process Automation within Oil & Gas, Refineries, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, or Batch industries.
- Hands-on ICSS experience, including PCS, SIS/ESD, and PMS.
- Strong knowledge of control system architecture, DCS application engineering, graphics engineering, and industry standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 61131-3, IEC 61850, IEC 104, and IEC 101.
- Experience with field instrumentation, industrial communication protocols including Profibus, Modbus, OPC UA, IEC 61850, IEC 104, and similar protocols, and networked control systems.
- Ability to interpret and work with P&IDs, Control Narratives, SAMA diagrams, I/O Lists, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Cause & Effect matrices, and Interlock/Protection documents.
- Commissioning experience in process industries.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 40-50% as required by project needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- Exposure to ABB 800xA and ABB DCS hardware/software engineering.
