Overview
Senior engineering role responsible for the design of Eaton's electrical connectors, accessories, cables and conduit assemblies within the Aerospace Interconnect Technologies Division, from concept through final design documentation.
What you'll do
- Support project engineering by generating CAD and drawings for new product development and product sustaining activities.
- Perform design engineering work from concept development, trade studies, design for manufacturability, and final design documentation.
- Generate complex component drawings to effectively communicate requirements.
- Develop creative solutions with existing technologies and add novel designs when required to meet product requirements.
- Support a reduced number of projects at once and effectively communicate commitments to international project teams.
- Initiate engineering change orders and implement design changes within a configuration-controlled environment.
- Lead projects and activities independently without follow-ups, raise concerns in time, and drive a cross-functional team towards a common goal.
- Ensure successful completion of assigned projects within budget, time and cost constraints.
- Verify completed drawings, reports, and change orders for completeness and conformity to standards, procedures and specifications, including accuracy of calculations, dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Manage design history folders, generating Engineering Change Orders to start the release process of technical data.
- Participate in design reviews, innovation summits, and design bursts.
- Support product sustaining activities to improve manufacturability or manage obsolescence through drawing changes.
- Utilize DFSS concepts/tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management and DVPR for new product development and/or existing product improvements.
- Create 3D models, drawings, reports, ECRs/ECOs, BOMs, tooling designs, test fixture designs, test plans and test reports for new product designs and modifications of existing drawings and models; coordinate design reviews through the release process.
- Sustain processes for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for the associated business group.
- Drive PRO-Launch execution for NPI programs with work package approvals, engineering management plan and attainment of all engineering deliverables per activity matrix.
