Senior Engineer - SW Design (RAIL)

Overview

Design, develop, and maintain foundational embedded software for low-power wireless MCUs and SDKs. Own hardware feature support across the IC lifecycle and contribute to reliable, power-efficient real-time systems.

What you'll do

• Develop low-level firmware, device drivers, startup code, and radio control features.
• Support hardware features from design and pre-silicon verification through release and long-term support.
• Optimize embedded software for performance, reliability, power, and memory or CPU usage.
• Debug issues across software, firmware, hardware, and system boundaries using lab tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, silicon, systems, and product teams on requirements, design reviews, and device bring-up.
• Contribute to automated testing, validation, development tooling, and code reviews.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance and best practices.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of professional embedded software or firmware development experience.
• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Embedded C and/or C++ programming skills.
• Experience developing for microcontrollers in resource-constrained, real-time environments using bare metal and/or RTOS systems.
• Hands-on hardware-software debugging experience with debuggers, JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.
• Experience with low-level software such as drivers, interrupts, peripheral interfaces, timing-sensitive code, or memory-constrained systems.
• Experience taking features from design through implementation, testing, and release.

Nice to have

• Experience with wireless technologies such as Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi, or proprietary radio systems.
• Experience with communication stacks, radio control, PHY/MAC functionality, or timing-critical software.
• Experience with embedded interfaces, Python, automated testing, CI, silicon bring-up, or hardware validation.
• Familiarity with multi-core microcontrollers, concurrency, assembly, or AI-assisted development tools.
