Overview
Lead multiple engineering teams and tech leads building and evolving ServiceChannel's mobile product suite, including native iOS and Android applications, supporting mobile SDKs, and a new React Native (hybrid) initiative.
What you'll do
- Lead multiple teams and tech leads; set org-level goals, structure and operating cadence, and be accountable for combined delivery, quality and reliability outcomes.
- Set multi-year technical vision and architecture direction for the product area; establish architecture governance, design reviews and engineering standards across teams.
- Represent engineering to senior and executive leadership; communicate status, risks, trade-offs and strategy clearly, and influence cross-organization priorities and dependencies.
- Drive organization-wide engineering excellence: quality, security, reliability, cost efficiency and developer-experience programs with measurable targets.
- Lead complex cross-team and cross-region programs, resolve conflicts and escalations, and foster a culture of ownership, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Own commitments and delivery outcomes for the mobile team(s), ensuring predictable and high-quality execution across iOS, Android and React Native.
- Define and drive the mobile technical strategy, including when to use native vs. React Native, and lead the incremental adoption of React Native alongside existing native apps and SDKs (brownfield integration, shared modules, migration paths).
- Translate product and business goals into clear technical deliverables and execution plans.
- Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional growth; build cross-platform skills so engineers can work effectively across iOS, Android and React Native.
- Ensure feature and quality parity across platforms and applications; drive reuse of shared components, design systems and SDKs.
- Own the mobile release lifecycle: CI/CD, code signing, App Store / Google Play submissions, phased rollouts, feature flags, hotfixes, and OS/SDK version upgrades.
- Monitor delivery and app-health metrics (velocity, crash-free rate, ANRs, startup time, app size, ratings, adoption) and take corrective action when needed.
- Act as the primary technical and delivery point of contact for product, business, and leadership stakeholders; partner closely with Product Management and Design to shape roadmaps and manage expectations.
- Lead collaboration with backend, DevOps, QA, security and customer-support teams; coordinate API contracts and versioning with backend teams.
- Own the quality of customer-facing mobile SDKs, including API design, versioning, documentation and backward compatibility.
- Drive offline-first, sync, performance, accessibility and localization standards across apps.
- Continuously improve engineering processes; drive adoption of best practices around incident management, postmortems and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy and regulatory requirements (secure storage, authentication, certificate handling, data protection, store policies).
- Conduct regular 1-on-1s, own performance management (goal setting, mid-cycle check-ins, annual reviews), and plan team capacity to meet roadmap commitments while avoiding burnout.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 11 years of hands-on experience in mobile development, including significant production experience in both native iOS and native Android, and at least 1–2 years with React Native (or a demonstrated track record of rapidly leading hybrid adoption).
- 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including at least 2+ years managing teams (people management, technical leadership and delivery ownership), with a track record of hiring and developing leaders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills; excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams.
- iOS: Expert in Swift, UIKit and SwiftUI, Xcode, Swift Package Manager / CocoaPods, Core Data or equivalent persistence, and linting tools such as SwiftLint.
- Android: Expert in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android Jetpack libraries, Gradle (Kotlin DSL) and multi-module architectures, dependency injection, coroutines/Flow, and performance tooling such as baseline profiles.
- React Native: Strong experience with React Native, TypeScript/JavaScript, React fundamentals, native modules/bridges, and integrating React Native into existing native iOS and Android apps.
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization) and strong grasp of coding best practices and scalable design.
- Experience building and maintaining reusable mobile SDKs/libraries distributed to internal or external consumers.
- Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Fastlane or similar), app signing, App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
- Solid understanding of the SDLC and familiarity with tools such as JIRA and GitHub.
- Knowledge of mobile security best practices (secure storage, Keychain/Keystore, certificate pinning, OWASP MASVS).
Nice to have
- Objective-C experience.
- Experience with Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging).
- Experience with mobile observability and monitoring (crash reporting, APM, logging) and data-driven app-health management.
- Experience migrating native apps to React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform / other cross-platform approaches.
Details
- Hybrid work mode, full-time.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and LTD insurance, HSA, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
