Senior Engineering Manager - Streaming Apps

Overview

Senior Engineering Manager for Roku’s multiplatform streaming apps, leading strategy, development, and optimization across multiple connected-TV platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead a team of software, QA, and automation engineers.
• Contribute and execute the long-term vision for streaming applications across diverse platforms.
• Prioritize streaming features using data-driven insights, market trends, and business goals.
• Manage the P/SDLC from discovery and requirements through launch and post-launch optimization.
• Oversee app feature implementation and integrations with video platform components, ads, and third-party SDKs.
• Drive engineering and operational excellence by monitoring app/playback metrics and system health KPIs.
• Partner with product, UI/UX, and stakeholders to roadmap work, manage tradeoffs, and support A/B testing and lifecycle management.

What you'll need

• 12+ years proven track record hiring, building, and leading high-caliber product engineering teams.
• 8+ years of software development experience with expertise in high-availability, large-scale distributed systems and services.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills working cross-functionally.
• Experience with modern web, hybrid and native tech stacks (TS, JS, Solid, React, Node, Cordova, React Native, Flutter, etc.).
• Video streaming domain knowledge, container formats (DASH, HLS, CMAF, MPEG-4, etc.), and DRM technologies (Widevine, Fairplay).
• Experience with ad technologies and frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 10+ years of experience (Master’s preferred).

• Teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday, with flexible remote work on Fridays.
