Senior Feature Engineer

Overview

Senior Feature Engineer role on General Motors’ Data & Feature Engineering team, focused on building and operating a governed feature platform used for product analytics and ML.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable feature engineering pipelines for ML/AI development and production inference.
• Build and manage feature transformation logic using Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
• Develop and operate feature pipelines within Databricks tools including notebooks, jobs, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
• Implement CI/CD for feature and data pipeline code with automated testing, deployment, and rollback.
• Define and enforce data quality checks across feature pipelines and monitor for issues.
• Document feature definitions, lineage, and pipeline architecture for reproducibility and audit.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in feature engineering, data engineering, or ML engineering supporting AI/ML development.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark clusters, notebooks, Delta Lake, workflows/jobs).
• Proficiency in Python for data pipeline and feature transformation development (pandas, PySpark, modular pipeline design).
• Strong SQL skills for complex data transformations, aggregation, and optimization.
• Working knowledge of Apache Spark (PySpark or Spark SQL) for distributed processing.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data/ML pipeline code.
• Experience with data quality management practices including validation, monitoring, and alerting.
