Overview
Senior Frontend Engineer (Vue) for GitLab’s Repository Management team in the Source Code stage, helping configure repositories and build trustworthy repository-management guardrails.
What you'll do
- Develop secure, well-tested, performant features and improvements using Vue.js and GraphQL.
- Convert complex requirements and legacy constraints into reliable solutions.
- Partner with product management, design, and UX to build responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Collaborate across teams asynchronously and synchronously, involving domain experts as needed.
- Use AI agents for well-scoped work and critically review their output.
- Strengthen reliability via monitoring, Tier 2 on-call, incident troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain code quality with testing, code review, documentation, and observability/resiliency improvements.
What you'll need
- Professional experience with Vue.js (or another modern JavaScript framework) and GraphQL.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, core JavaScript, responsive design, accessibility standards, and frontend performance best practices.
- Experience solving complex policy/permissions/rules-based web application problems.
- Experience writing frontend unit and acceptance tests using tools such as Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, ava, or tape.
- Experience with Git in a professional environment and familiarity with collaborative code review processes.
- Strong English written and spoken communication skills in remote, asynchronous environments.
- Ability to manage priorities independently, work through ambiguity, and take ownership.
