Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Overview

Senior Hardware Design Engineer for HPE’s Product HW design team, focused on advanced networking systems where signal integrity, power integrity, and system performance are critical.

What you'll do

• Lead and own complex hardware designs end-to-end, including functional specifications, component selection, and schematic capture.
• Drive high-speed digital design decisions for signal integrity, power distribution/sequencing, and timing.
• Serve as technical owner for complete boards or major subsystems in networking products.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (PCB layout, SI/PI, validation, mechanical, thermal, EMC, manufacturing, firmware, software) to deliver production-ready designs.
• Perform deep root-cause analysis and empirical testing on complex hardware and system-level issues.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and thorough design reviews.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 12–15 years of experience in complex hardware and system-level design, with products shipped to production.
• Proven ownership of high-speed board-level hardware designs.
• Deep understanding of signal integrity, power distribution networks, and system-level mechanical/thermal considerations.
• Strong networking hardware experience (switches, routers, or network appliances).
• Cadence PCB design tools proficiency (Concept/OrCAD, Allegro).
• Working knowledge of interfaces/protocols including DDR (DDR4/DDR5), PCIe, USB, SPI, I²C, UART, SGMII, XAUI.
