Senior IT Analyst SAP Basis Administrator

Overview

Senior IT Analyst (SAP Basis Administrator) on the Design Eng Processes team in CAT IT Division, responsible for administration, maintenance, optimization and strategic support of enterprise SAP environments.

What you'll do

• Own and drive all incidents, service tasks, problem tickets and system optimization for the operations portfolio, ensuring delivery against commitments, SLAs and outcomes.
• Establish, monitor and continuously improve standard work; communicate progress, risks and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership.
• Partner with business units and decision makers to support day-to-day operations, incident and problem resolution, and continuous service improvement.
• Perform SAP landscape administration: install, configure, maintain and support the SAP ecosystem.
• Manage upgrades and patches.
• Ensure system performance and availability.
• Deliver high availability and disaster recovery services.
• Ensure security and compliance.
• Manage print and transport management.
• Deliver cloud and automation initiatives.
• Provide Level 4 troubleshooting and support.
• Administer SAP HANA and databases.
• Configure data lifecycle management.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

What you'll need

• A relevant computer science master's or graduate degree.
• 9-plus years of progressively complex Information Services experience, including enterprise application architecture, development, support and modernization.
• A general understanding of business operations, including one or more of: general business processes, technical infrastructure, application development and support of major projects, and engineering functional applications.
• Strong functional and/or technical application design, architecture, implementation and support knowledge.
• Deep technical expertise across the SAP technology stack, including SAP landscape administration, HANA/database administration, upgrades and patching, performance and availability, high availability/disaster recovery, security and compliance, transport and print management, cloud and automation, data lifecycle management, and Level 4 technical support.
• Ability to provide strategic direction for application and technology roadmaps, including 2–5-year plans for Information Services.
• Ability to work with diversified departments, with effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer focus and business knowledge.
• Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or automated agent workflows) to accelerate application development or support, reduce cost or effort, or optimize support.

• Demonstrated experience with AI tools.
• A Lean or Continuous Improvement background.
• Ability to translate between technical and business language, bridging the support organization and the Caterpillar business it serves.
• Ability to lead, analyze and take a broader perspective on specific technology and related solutions, with a comprehensive understanding of application solutions, interfaces, security, and data governance policies and procedures.
• Skilled in large-scale application support and development.
• HANA DBA certification.
• Basis Administration certification.
• Experience with SAP on Hyperscalers, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and test data migration methodologies.
• Knowledge of automation (Python, Ansible).
• Prior experience driving innovation and automation.
• Extensive experience working with cross-functional teams, with a proven history of strong job-related results.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.

• Location: Bangalore, Karnataka (preferred base: Bangalore – Caterpillar PSN).
• Work mode: 5 days onsite per week.
• Schedule: 5-day work week; shift timing 01:00–10:00 PM IST.
• Travel: may require up to 25%.
• Relocation is unavailable.
