Senior Java Architect, VP II, State Street Investment Management

Overview

Senior Java Architect role within State Street Investment Management, supporting target-state platform and operating model definition and execution. Provides hands-on technical leadership across design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery of complex software solutions.

What you'll do

• Lead key technical initiatives and projects to improve existing platform capabilities and enable scalability.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle.
• Design, enhance, and maintain core frameworks and shared components for reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Business Analysts to translate requirements into low-latency software solutions.
• Tackle complex technical challenges across design, performance, data, and integration issues.
• Develop and implement production-grade software using Java and cloud-native technologies (AWS preferred).
• Drive code and design reviews and ensure quality via unit, integration, and automated tests.

What you'll need

• 18+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Deep expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Strong proficiency in Java for scalable, high-performance multi-tier applications.
• Experience with distributed systems and scalable microservices using REST/RPC/gRPC/OpenAPI.
• Hands-on cloud-native architecture experience on AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Strong understanding of SDLC from design through deployment and production support.
