Senior Mobile Engineer - Instrumentation SDK (iOS) | Ireland | Remote

Overview

Build and evolve high-performance iOS instrumentation SDKs that capture mobile observability signals and integrate with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Cloud.

What you'll do

• Build and evolve iOS mobile instrumentation SDKs using Swift and Objective-C.
• Design and ship session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, context propagation, and OpenTelemetry features.
• Own projects end to end by delivering modular solutions, MVPs, and iterations.
• Maintain quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backward-compatible upgrades.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams.
• Engage with open-source contributors through reviews and design discussions.
• Mentor teammates and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.

What you'll need

• Strong iOS engineering experience with Swift and Objective-C.
• Experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code.
• Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory, or network efficiency.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or similar telemetry libraries.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in ambiguous environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write documentation, mentor others, and contribute to roadmaps.

Nice to have

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash-reporting libraries, or observability open-source software.
• Experience with React Native, Flutter, or native bindings and bridges.
• Experience with mobile security, privacy, or platform integration.
• Experience with crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.

Details

• Remote role for applicants based in Ireland.
• Base compensation: EUR 104,000–130,000 yearly.
