Senior QA Engineer

Overview

Senior QA Engineer to design, automate and execute tests for highly distributed, large-scale systems on Qualys' next-generation data platform and middleware, working closely with engineers and architects.

What you'll do

• Work closely with the Data Platform development team to identify, document and validate defects, monitor fixes and ensure high-quality releases.
• Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for distributed, large-scale systems.
• Contribute to the implementation of the test automation framework and enhance the existing framework for scalability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, SecOps and product teams to ensure platform reliability, quality and performance.
• Perform system-level debugging, log analysis and root cause investigation for complex issues.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions, and provide input on testability and quality improvements.
• Ensure test cases and results are well-documented, traceable and integrated into CI/CD pipelines.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4 to 8 years of professional experience in Automation Testing using Java with TestNG.
• Strong hands-on experience in automation framework design, implementation and maintenance.
• Solid experience testing distributed systems, data pipelines or data platforms.
• Good knowledge of Linux and Shell Scripting.
• Proficiency in test automation using Python and Java.
• Experience with tools such as JUnit, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins or Pytest.
• Familiarity with containerized environments and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar.
• Solid understanding of system-level debugging, log analysis and performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of relational databases and ability to integrate SQL queries into test automation.
• Experience with tools like JIRA, GIT and Zephyr.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with distributed databases such as Cassandra, Kafka or Redis.

• Requires close collaboration with QA teams and engineering partners in the Bay Area, California, and North Carolina.
