Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer for DoorDash India, working on data platform and programs at the intersection of data infrastructure, reliability, governance, tooling, and AI systems.

What you'll do

• Improve scalability, performance, and reliability of data platform services using strong engineering practices.
• Build and operate data discovery and metadata platforms for dataset/dashboard/metric discovery.
• Develop AI-enabled services and workflows, including self-serve tooling for AI assistants.
• Add observability, monitoring, and operational tooling to maintain platform SLAs and reduce incident response time.
• Drive cost-efficient data platform design by identifying underutilized/redundant/idle datasets, services, and compute.
• Embed cost awareness into the data lifecycle, including reuse encouragement and instrumentation of usage/cost signals.
• Partner with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll need

• BE/B.Tech, M.E/M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science (or equivalent).
• 6+ years of experience with CS fundamental concepts.
• Experience with at least one of Go, Java, or Python in the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across design, code generation, testing, monitoring, and releasing.
• Experience improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of data platforms.
• Experience building or operating backend systems in production environments.
