Overview
Software Engineer, Backend on DoorDash India, part of a founding engineering team focused on data infrastructure and programs at the intersection of data reliability, governance, developer tooling, and AI systems.
What you'll do
- Improve scalability, performance, and reliability of data platform services.
- Build and operate data discovery and metadata platforms.
- Develop AI-enabled services and workflows for analytics and operations.
- Add observability, monitoring, and operational tooling to maintain platform SLAs.
- Drive cost-efficient data platform design by identifying underutilized/redundant/idle data and compute.
- Embed cost awareness into the data lifecycle, including reuse over duplication and usage/cost instrumentation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that reduce friction across the data ecosystem.
What you'll need
- 3+ years of experience with CS fundamental concepts.
- Experience with at least one programming language: Go, Java, or Python.
- Ability to use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across the full software development lifecycle.
- Prior technical experience building meaningful pieces of data infrastructure.
- Experience improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of data platforms.
- Experience building or operating backend systems in production environments.
- Education: B.E./B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science (or equivalent).
