Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer - Risk)

Overview

Senior Software Engineer on the Risk Engineering team, building systems that detect and prevent fraud, manage risk, and protect users in real time.

What you'll do

• Lead complex risk platform features from architecture through production monitoring.
• Drive architecture for risk detection and mitigation systems.
• Partner with Data Science, ML, Risk Analysts, Product, and Compliance teams.
• Build real-time decisioning and model-driven fraud detection systems.
• Develop AI-enabled workflows for risk detection and response.
• Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews and technical design work.
• Lead incident response, post-mortems, and operational improvements.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering complex production systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Ruby, Python, or Java.
• Experience designing distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into technical plans and architectures.
• Experience leading end-to-end projects and mentoring engineers.
• Experience leading incident response and post-mortems.

Details

• Remote in Canada.
• Quarterly in-person working sessions may be required.
• Annual base salary: 191,100 CAD.
