Senior Software Engineer (Containers)

Overview

Senior Software Engineer on the Guarded Containers team, building product features and services for Chainguard Images. The role covers feature development, technical decision-making, and evolution of supporting tooling and infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Design and build features and services for Chainguard Images.
• Partner with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to ship improvements.
• Own technical decisions for features, balancing impact, scalability, and maintainability.
• Develop tools and services for the image build system.
• Contribute to team craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, compilers, Makefiles, and toolchains.
• Expertise with containers, container registries, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Experience writing services or tools in Go.
• Strong communication skills, English proficiency, and ability to work autonomously.

Nice to have

• Authorship or contribution to open-source projects.

Details

• Remote across the United States.
• Base salary: $157,000–$184,000 USD yearly.
