Senior Software Engineer - Orchestration & Job Execution

Overview

Senior Software Engineer responsible for designing, building, operating, and evolving backend services for orchestration, job execution, workflow runtimes, and service coordination across Alteryx Cloud.

What you'll do

• Design and deliver backend services, APIs, workers, and shared libraries.
• Build orchestration systems for job submission, execution tracking, retries, cancellation, and results.
• Develop asynchronous and event-driven systems with queues, messaging, workers, and durable state.
• Build cloud-native runtime infrastructure using containers, Kubernetes, and deployment tooling.
• Improve production reliability through observability, alerting, runbooks, and incident follow-up.
• Lead technical design, review code, mentor engineers, and drive cross-team platform work.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience owning production backend services, cloud platform capabilities, or distributed systems.
• Backend development experience with TypeScript, Node.js, or comparable technologies.
• Experience designing and operating asynchronous, queue-driven, or event-driven systems.
• Experience with persistence, service contracts, RESTful APIs, and multi-service integrations.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes or similar platforms, scaling, and operational debugging.
• Ability to lead design discussions, explain tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and drive ambiguous work.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow engines, orchestration systems, job runners, or runtime infrastructure.
• Experience with GitOps, multi-cluster environments, cloud operations, or infrastructure automation.
• Experience with messaging systems, event contracts, schema management, or distributed coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Details

• Remote within the United States.
• Base salary: $120,000–$160,000 for most U.S. locations; $130,000–$175,000 in listed Zone A locations.
