Overview
Senior Software Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining storage ecosystem software and integrations within HPE's next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain enhancements, features, and integrations for storage ecosystem software, including Kubernetes CSI Drivers storage integrations, storage automation frameworks, cloud-native plugins and operators, virtualization and container ecosystem integrations, and REST APIs, SDKs, and management services.
- Analyze solution requirements and architecture to determine design, coding, testing, and integration activities.
- Develop scalable, secure, and highly available software solutions using modern software engineering practices.
- Write, review, and maintain unit, integration, functional, and automation tests; identify root causes and resolve software defects.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
- Lead feature development efforts and collaborate with internal teams, open-source communities, and external partners.
- Drive software quality, CI/CD adoption, observability, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Collaborate with product management, system architects, QA, DevOps, and support teams throughout the software lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within project teams.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and automation to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing efficiency, and troubleshooting effectiveness.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Typically 5+ years of software development experience in enterprise or cloud-native environments.
- Strong software development experience in Golang (Must).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, distributed systems, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Kubernetes ecosystem development, including CSI Drivers, Operators, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and Kubernetes APIs.
- OpenStack ecosystem knowledge, particularly storage-related services.
- Container technologies including Docker, Podman, and OCI containers.
- CI/CD and DevOps practices using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and GitLab CI.
- Automated testing and release pipelines.
- Software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, system, regression, and automation testing.
- Strong debugging, performance analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical designs, architecture decisions, and trade-offs to engineering and leadership teams.
- Ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional, and open-source collaboration environments.

- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Python and Java software development experience.
- Enterprise block, file, and object storage concepts.
- Storage protocols and technologies including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NVMe/TCP, NFS, and SMB.
- Experience with storage management platforms, data services, and high-availability architectures.
- Effective use of AI coding assistants and productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and AI-assisted code review tools.
- Experience applying Generative AI for code generation, unit test generation, documentation creation, root cause analysis, and operational troubleshooting.
- Understanding of LLM concepts and prompt engineering, AI-driven software development workflows, and AI-assisted DevOps and automation practices.

- Hybrid role requiring an average of 2 days per week from an HPE office.
