Senior Software Engineer- IOS Developer

Overview

Build and own high-performance, stable and scalable Apple Player SDK applications for Warner Bros. Discovery's Direct-to-Consumer products. The role focuses on OTT video playback, Apple ecosystem architecture and design, operational excellence, engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Build product features in close collaboration with TPM, SDM and product stakeholders.
• Advocate best practices for Player Architecture, Design & Development.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders in architecting, designing and developing the Player SDK.
• Own all aspects of product development from concept through development, testing, acceptance, adoption and iterative changes.
• Focus on operational excellence and metrics-driven practices.
• Focus on engineering excellence and keep up with architecture and design trends.
• Look for improvement opportunities, monitor protocol specifications and suggest new features.
• Be self-critical about your work and pursue continuous improvement.
• Respond positively to internal customers, including testers, client app developers and product managers, and improve playback experience for end users.
• Make data-driven technical decisions for architecture and design of new product features.
• Identify optimization opportunities for performance improvements.
• Mentor and coach SDEs and build succession for architecture and design.
• Help the SDM with backlog grooming and estimations.

What you'll need

• 5-9 years’ experience in the Broadcasting Video / OTT domain and architecting native applications for the Apple ecosystem.
• Sound understanding of the Swift programming language, including concurrency and the Combine framework.
• UIKit knowledge.
• Good unit testing skills using XCTest.
• Integration testing experience.
• Strong debugging skills using profiling tools such as Instruments.
• Sound understanding of Apple TV architecture, media frameworks, Media Player APIs, AV Foundation API and Apple SDK.
• Strong computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• SwiftUI knowledge.
• Experience in DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring and incident management.
