Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, design, build, test, release and support secure, reliable and scalable backend services, APIs and event-driven capabilities. Work as a senior individual contributor within a cross-functional product team, providing technical leadership and supporting the growth of other engineers.

What you'll do

• Design and build Java/Spring Boot applications and leverage microservice architecture.
• Design technical architecture solutions spanning Sales, Service, Marketing, Analytics, Social and Communities, including integration and authentication across systems.
• Manage the development lifecycle to deliver highly secure solutions optimized for performance and built to scale.
• Articulate design considerations, trade-offs, benefits and recommendations for technical architecture.
• Monitor software configuration, development and testing processes to assure quality deliverables.
• Understand and translate customer needs into new products and capabilities.
• Advise development teams and product managers on engineering solutions aligned with technology capabilities.
• Manage multiple sprint priorities as required while working in an Agile team embedded in CI/CD best practice.
• Provide training and educate team members about core capabilities and help them deliver high-quality solutions and documentation.
• Work with a geographically distributed team.
• Apply critical thinking, accountability for product delivery and a passion for developing quality software.

What you'll need

• Degree-level IT qualifications in Software or Systems Engineering.
• Strong full-stack software development technology experience with a priority focus on backend delivery.
• Java 8+ expertise.
• JavaScript, Angular or React skills.
• Strong hands-on experience in development and testing using microservice/lightweight containers and frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Understanding of CRM Product Model, Order Decomposition and Order Orchestrator.
• Understanding of design patterns and ability to show expertise in applying design patterns.
• Involvement in the design and implementation of secure, scalable, fault-tolerant systems in the cloud.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of CI/CD processes and experience with at least one build server, such as Bamboo, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
• Linux experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management, engagement and presentation skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as a team player.

Nice to have

• Experience in cloud technologies, primarily AWS, including serverless computing such as Lambda, Step Functions and Glue, and RDS, Postgres, S3, SQS, SNS and Kinesis.
• Salesforce CRM and Apex knowledge.
• Understanding of security, including authentication and authorisation.
• APIGEE, Nginx or similar API gateway experience.
• Understanding of change management principles and experience in production support.
