Senior Software Engineer - Rust

Overview

Senior Rust Software Engineer on Bitwarden’s Desktop Native team, owning desktop autofill and native OS integrations.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain native desktop integrations including the SSH agent, Autotype, native passkeys, and the DuckDuckGo integration.
• Develop and evolve a shared Rust SDK, including language bindings and FFI used across desktop and browser clients.
• Interface with OS-level APIs on Windows, macOS, and Linux for reliable native behavior.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of integrations handling sensitive credential data.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and the Autofill team to deliver end-to-end experiences.
• Review pull requests and assist with quality of native/systems engineering and GitHub community contributions.

What you'll need

• 4–6+ years overall backend/systems experience including FFI and language bindings.
• Production Rust experience.
• Native desktop experience interfacing directly with OS-level APIs on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Experience designing and versioning cross-platform SDKs or shared libraries used by multiple client surfaces.
• Experience using AI tooling in development and testing (Anthropic Claude preferred).
• Openness/authenticity and excellent communication skills.
