Senior Software Engineer, Windows/Desktop Applications - Kolkata, India

Overview

Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications for Speechify.

What you'll do

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications.
• Define and enforce Windows desktop development best practices across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts, integrating and validating Windows accessibility APIs.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and QA stakeholders on feature planning and UI/UX architecture.
• Own features across the full lifecycle from conception through maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance issues, memory leaks, and compatibility problems.

What you'll need

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK/WinUI (or similar) and C# with XAML.
• Understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between .NET managed code and native code.
• Track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications focusing on reliability and performance.
• Experience with Windows accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation.
• Strong software fundamentals including memory management and asynchronous/multithreading concepts.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring, and conducting code reviews.

Nice to have

• Experience writing automated UI tests and familiarity with testing frameworks.
• Performance optimization experience including memory usage and rendering performance.
• Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI, and internationalization.
• Familiarity with telemetry, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring.
