Overview
Senior Wireless QA Engineer on the Wireless QA Team, testing and validating Bluetooth profiles, protocol stack implementations and wireless performance for Silicon Labs products.
What you'll do
- Develop comprehensive test plans, strategies and approaches for Bluetooth testing, covering Bluetooth Classic, BLE, Bluetooth mesh and related protocols.
- Design and execute detailed tests for Bluetooth profiles (e.g., A2DP, HFP, GATT, LE Audio etc), ensuring proper implementation and functionality in real-world scenarios.
- Test and validate Bluetooth protocol stack implementations, including interoperability between different Bluetooth versions, chipsets and operating systems.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues related to Bluetooth communication, signal interference, range and performance.
- Develop and maintain custom test scripts, automated test cases and tools (using languages like Python, Embedded C) for Bluetooth functionality, performance and stress testing.
- Utilize specialized Bluetooth test tools and protocol analyzers (e.g., Ellisys, Teledyne LeCroy) to capture, decode and analyze Bluetooth traffic.
- Conduct performance testing to assess Bluetooth range, data throughput, connection stability and battery consumption, particularly for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices.
- Test Bluetooth security features, including pairing protocols, encryption and authentication, to identify vulnerabilities and ensure data protection.
What you'll need
- At least 5+ years of experience in software testing/development, with a focus on Bluetooth technology and test automation using Python/Embedded C.
- In-depth knowledge of Bluetooth technologies, including Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Bluetooth mesh, LE Audio and the Bluetooth protocol stack.
- Strong understanding of Bluetooth profiles such as A2DP, HFP, HID, GATT, PAN, LE Audio, and their respective functionalities and use cases.
- Expertise in using Bluetooth testing tools and protocol analyzers (e.g., Ellisys, Teledyne LeCroy, Frontline).
- Experience with Bluetooth specification documentation (e.g., Bluetooth SIG), and familiarity with Bluetooth standards (e.g., Bluetooth 5.x, BLE).
- Experience in LE Audio profiles – BAP, TMAP, CAP and LC3 Codec.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly in complex Bluetooth connectivity and performance issues.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document test results and present findings clearly to stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Experience with the Bluetooth Qualification process or Bluetooth certification.
