Senior System Engineer

Overview

Senior Systems Engineer role in Vultr’s Global Integrated Operations Command Center (GIOC) in Chennai, acting as the first line of response for incidents across compute, storage, operating systems, and virtualization.

What you'll do

• Monitor systems-estate health signals from a single-pane-of-glass dashboard.
• Acknowledge and triage alerts within first-response SLA targets.
• Classify incidents by severity and customer impact and route to the correct tower/escalation path.
• Execute documented runbooks for permitted L2 actions to resolve common issues.
• Escalate unresolved or out-of-scope issues to L2/L3 with complete handoff documentation.
• Maintain incident documentation, shift logs, and stakeholder/customer communication during incidents.

What you'll need

• 5-8 years of experience in systems administration, NOC/SOC, or IT operations.
• Hands-on Linux and/or Windows server administration experience.
• Working knowledge of operating systems and log analysis (Linux and/or Windows).
• Familiarity with compute, storage, virtualization concepts, and basic networking.
• Understanding of incident-management fundamentals and severity-based triage.
• Exposure to monitoring/observability tools and ticketing systems.
• Ability to work a rotational 24x7 shift model, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
