Senior System Engineer

Overview

Join Backbase's global L3 team as a Senior System Engineer focused on Azure, managing customer and internal runtimes with a focus on resilience, availability, and scalability.

What you'll do

• Implement and manage Azure cloud infrastructure so customers have access to the best Azure features.
• Implement and contribute to best practices for cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
• Ensure the solution always runs in a compliant, secure and cost-effective way.
• Ensure maximum reliability, high availability and uptime of the managed hosting service provided to customers.
• Help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring resilience, availability and scalability.
• Contribute to increasing operational efficiency and helping bring overall cloud cost under control.

What you'll need

• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure security, cloud-native technologies, and desired state configuration.
• Proficiency with tools and technologies such as GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD and Istio.
• Comfort with the Grafana observability solution.
• Strong communication skills allowing you to drive initiatives and decisions inside and outside your team.
• At least 3 years of experience in system engineering, including at least 2 years of working with Azure cloud services.
• Azure competencies including but not limited to Azure Front Door, WAF, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL Database, Azure Regions, Availability Zones and DR.
• Combines technical excellence with mentorship skills, providing peers with hands-on guidance and collaborative problem-solving.
• Automation-first mindset; not content with anything manual, aims to make every process predictable and automated.
• Proven track record of implementing scalable, highly-available cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Evidence of significant work experience with Azure.
• Work experience as a software developer.
• Networking experience, including VPN configuration.
• DB administration experience, including Azure SQL configuration.
