Senior System Engineer- Storage/Distributed System

Overview

Lead the design and development of complex cloud products and platforms for HPE Hybrid Cloud, including efficient, scalable and robust cloud subsystems. Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex application, system administration and network problems and provide guidance to engineering teams.

What you'll do

• Lead the project team for design and development of complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing and integration.
• Review and evaluate designs and test plans, and develop code for compliance with cloud design and development guidelines and standards.
• Provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate risks.
• Represent the engineering team in technical forums.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced team members.
• Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
• Analyze science, engineering, business and other data processing problems to develop and implement solutions to complex application problems, system administration issues or network concerns.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Typically, 7-10 years’ experience.
• Strong JAVA/C++/Golang programming skills.
• Expertise in file systems, networking or distributed storage/compute systems.
• Good debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Thorough knowledge of the Linux/UNIX and Kubernete environment.
• Proficiency with data structures, algorithms and multi-threaded programming.
• In-depth knowledge of OS internals and storage concepts.
• Understanding of microservice architecture and how microservices can be built in a containerized, Kubernetes-managed environment.
• Ability to design and integrate software systems running on multiple platform types into the overall architecture.
• Ability to evaluate forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate product architectures and design proposals at senior management levels.

• Onsite role with an expectation to primarily work from an HPE office.
