Senior Systems Engineer

Overview

Senior Systems Engineer within the Application Packaging and Profile Management team of End User Computing, responsible for delivering, maintaining and optimizing applications across Fidelity's desktop and virtual environments.

What you'll do

• Package, repackage and maintain applications for desktop and virtual environments using industry-standard packaging technologies.
• Collaborate with business and technology partners to gather requirements, coordinate testing and ensure successful application deployments.
• Engineer and implement reliable application delivery solutions that improve user experience and operational efficiency.
• Automate packaging and deployment activities using PowerShell and other scripting technologies.
• Evaluate new application delivery, profile management and endpoint management technologies and recommend options based on technical analysis.
• Support application lifecycle management, including upgrades, remediation, compatibility assessments and retirement planning.
• Troubleshoot complex application deployment and configuration issues across Windows environments.
• Document solutions, operational procedures and engineering standards to improve consistency and scalability.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement modern workplace solutions and enhance end-user productivity.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of IT experience in application packaging, endpoint management or desktop engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, including file systems, services, environment variables, registry management and commonly used command-line tools.
• Understanding of Windows Installer technologies and application packaging concepts, including MSI-based deployments.
• Hands-on experience with MSI packaging technologies and application deployment processes.
• Hands-on scripting experience using PowerShell for automation, deployment and troubleshooting.
• Experience troubleshooting application and operating system issues within enterprise Windows environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise Windows desktop environments.
• Understanding of profile management concepts and user environment management technologies.
• Understanding of modern management platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
• Knowledge of SCCM/MECM application deployment and troubleshooting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and communicate complex topics clearly.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate application deployment and configuration issues.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to quality and customer experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Intune, Company Portal and modern endpoint management solutions.
• Understanding of Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) application deployment processes.
• Familiarity with application virtualization technologies such as App-V, FlexApp or similar solutions.
• Knowledge of Citrix application delivery environments.
• Experience supporting software lifecycle management initiatives.
• Understanding of security permissions, application compatibility and endpoint management best practices.
• Experience working in collaborative Agile delivery environments.
