Senior Trial Attorney - Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Overview

Senior Trial Attorney role at Allstate defending insured individuals and the Company in bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and Allstate Financial cases, with mediations, arbitrations and trials, plus counsel to business clients.

What you'll do

• Represent insured individuals and the Company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and Allstate Financial cases.
• Prepare thoroughly for and conduct hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.
• Prepare and present pre- and post-trial motions effectively.
• Assist colleagues in resolving calendar conflicts in a collaborative manner.
• Offer counsel to business clients on day-to-day legal matters.
• Manage projects efficiently, fostering coordination and collaboration among legal teams.
• Keep abreast of and evaluate new laws, regulations, and case law; identify and summarize relevant issues; collaborate with other areas of the Law and Regulation (L&R) department; provide proactive advice and counsel to business units on the impact of new laws; monitor legal representation.

What you'll need

• Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
• 3+ years of proven litigation experience or strong litigation-type skills, such as case strategy development, legal research, and advocacy, with the ability to manage complex disputes and work effectively under pressure.
• First or second chair jury trial experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research.
• Strong teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants under the guidance of Lead Counsel.
• Capacity to manage a substantial case load.
• Comfortable working in a remote environment and to travel throughout the greater Houston, TX area.

• Proven experience with insurance defense.
• LexisNexis proficiency.

• Location: Houston, TX area; travel throughout the greater Houston, TX area required.
• Work mode: Remote-capable role; employees eligible to work from home must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, appropriate desk and seating, and reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
• Allstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position.
• Background investigation required for the offered candidate.
• Compensation: $120,000.00 – $153,925.00 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
