Senior Vice President- Engineering Manager

Overview

Lead engineering and technology delivery for enterprise data solutions, combining team leadership, hands-on development and technical direction across cloud data engineering and application development.

What you'll do

• Lead, coach and mentor the team to uplift skills and knowledge to perform their roles.
• Engage in hands-on development to balance workload or address significant complexity through technical Proofs of Concept, build and test, including security, reliability and performance.
• Detail the technology roadmap.
• Triage new demand, ensure enough high-level technology guidance exists to initiate work and lead design activities.
• Ensure technical designs meet functional, resilience, throughput, security, reuse and simplicity needs.
• Maintain an understanding of best-practice initiatives within the specialist area and IT in general by continually seeking relevant industry and technical knowledge.
• Improve professional skills by completing necessary development activities.
• Conform with all internal operating procedures relevant to the position.

What you'll need

• 15+ years of technology experience.
• 12+ years in application development.
• Experience managing large-scale data solution deliveries with multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise in the cloud data engineering domain.
• Implementations of enterprise data architectures for real-time, near-real-time and batch-based solutions, with the ability to design solutions.
• Enthusiasm for technology and keeping up with implementations and best practices.
• Solid experience, knowledge and skills in data engineering, BI/software development such as ELT/ETL and data extraction and manipulation in Data Lake, Data Warehouse and Lake House environments.
• Knowledge of data modelling techniques and practices used for a Data Warehouse/Data Mart application.
• Good knowledge of cloud-based solution design, configuration and development experience with Azure/AWS, Jenkins, Airflow, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks and Big Data.
• Software delivery technical experience with CI/CD, automated deployments, automated testing, build servers, and software/source code configuration management.
• Experience with platform automation tools including DB Management, AWS, Jenkins and GITHUB.
• Ability to articulate complex technical issues and desired outcomes of system enhancements.
• Experience providing technology client service.

Nice to have

• Benchmark certifications, preferably in AWS cloud and Databricks.
• AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate or Professional certification.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional certification.
• Exposure to Generative AI solution design use cases to enable the same across the enterprise using data.
• Experience providing technology client service, preferably in the financial industry domain.
