Overview
Own the end-to-end technical integrity and evolution of Cortex, a software product for semiconductor data workflows, across its frontend, services, infrastructure and integrations.
What you'll do
- Learn, document and communicate the current Cortex architecture, including its key components, dependencies, integrations and constraints.
- Own and guide cross-stack architectural decisions across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data, infrastructure and deployment.
- Define and maintain architecture principles, standards and patterns that support Cortex's product and engineering needs.
- Shape architecture for microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, containerized applications, and cloud and on-premise environments.
- Guide frontend architecture, including microfrontend and plugin approaches, Web Components, and integration across Core and Contributor applications.
- Ensure architecture addresses scalability, performance, resilience, maintainability, observability and cybersecurity.
- Guide authentication and authorization, data architecture, and secure development practices, including SBOM, SCA and SAST considerations.
- Shape CI/CD architecture and deployment practices in collaboration with development and DevOps teams.
- Review major technical changes and designs, identify cross-system risks, and help teams make informed trade-offs.
- Coordinate with Athena, SDP and DAP architects and technical leads on integration points and shared architectural concerns.
- Support the evolution of Central Cortex and the Contributor plugin ecosystem.
- Identify and prioritize technical debt with engineering teams, and help develop a practical strategy for addressing it.
- Encourage cohesive decisions across frontend, backend and DevOps, and resolve architectural gaps between teams.
- Communicate architectural choices and trade-offs clearly to engineers, product stakeholders and management.
- Influence without direct authority, challenge designs constructively, and mentor engineers and technical leads.
- Regularly revisit architectural assumptions as Cortex, its user needs and its technical environment evolve.
What you'll need

- Significant experience designing and evolving software architectures for complex products or platforms.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices and REST/API architecture.
- Experience architecting containerized applications and working with Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud and on-premise architecture.
- Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, data architecture, scalability and performance.
- Understanding of both modern frontend architecture and backend/service architecture.
- Experience with microfrontend or plugin architectures and Web Components.
- Experience designing observability and CI/CD capabilities as part of a broader system architecture.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and tooling, including SBOM, SCA and SAST.
- Strong system-thinking skills and the ability to analyze dependencies, risks and trade-offs across a product.
- Experience documenting architecture, principles, decisions and technical direction.
- Strong technical communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain architecture to engineers and management.
- Ability to influence across teams, challenge designs constructively, and collaborate in a global or matrix organization.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Nice to have
