Overview
Lead a team of individual contributors designing and developing software products, enhancements, and updates for end-user applications running on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms. Provide technical leadership for significant project and program work involving L2/L3 networking, cloud-native deployment concepts, and modern network configuration interfaces.
What you'll do
- Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates.
- Coordinate projects for end-user applications software running on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects.
- Allocate resources appropriately and ensure goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
- Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
- Manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
- Ensure team members effectively communicate and collaborate with outsourced resources.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.
- Provide people-care management, including hiring, setting and monitoring annual performance plans, coaching, and career development.
- Ensure proper knowledge and career development tools support ongoing team member and process development.
What you'll need
- First level university degree or equivalent experience required.
- Typically 10 or more years of related work experience, including 3+ years of people management experience.
- Extensive experience with L2/L3 Edge protocols, including DHCP, PPPoE, and L2TP.
- Deep working knowledge of multiple Layer 2 protocols, including VLAN, LAG, IGMP snooping, and NTP.
- Deep working knowledge of Layer 3 protocols.
- Proficiency in IPv6 enablement on legacy IPv4 networks, IPv6 rollout, and various IPv6 certification requirements.
- Strong C/Python programming skills.
- Exposure / Hands-on experience with cloud-native deployment concepts, including Kubernetes, Docker Containers, and Virtual Machines in a CI/CD pipeline.
- Exposure / Direct experience implementing or integrating modern network configuration interfaces like OpenConfig, gRPC, and gNMI.
- Familiarity with data modelling using YANG and data serialization formats like JSON, and REST APIs.
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.
- Advanced project management skills, including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.
- Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
