Lead Backend Engineer

Overview

Lead the design, development, and ownership of distributed backend systems and mobile communication services for a multichannel marketing platform. Provide technical leadership while delivering scalable, performant, and reliable services.

What you'll do

• Lead design and development of SMS, MMS, and RCS communication services.
• Translate product requirements into scalable backend architectures.
• Architect and develop high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Drive code reviews, testing strategies, and engineering best practices.
• Debug production issues and implement performance and feature improvements.
• Own the design, development, scalability, and reliability of critical platform components.
• Guide engineering practices and collaborate with engineering and product teams.

What you'll need

• 10+ years building scalable backend systems using Java, Python, Ruby, or similar technologies.
• 8–12 years working with Python, Ruby, and/or J2EE technology.
• 3–5 years as a hands-on Lead Engineer or technical architect.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and data infrastructure.
• Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL databases such as Aerospike.
• Experience with RESTful services, microservices, streaming pipelines, and container-based solutions.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing RCS.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, ClickHouse, or Redshift.
• Working knowledge of Thrift, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS cloud services.
• Experience with multi-tenant architectures.
• Experience with Agile development and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience adopting AI tools and AI-based development practices.
