Software Development Engineer | 5+years | (Networking , C/C++, Python, Cloud, Linux, kernel, Docker, Container, Kubernetes)

Overview

Software Development Engineer on the C8000v team at Cisco Catalyst Engineering Routing India, responsible for architecture, development and delivery of Cisco's cloud-native virtual routing platform.

What you'll do

• Define, develop, validate and automate features that help customers manage their networks.
• Understand feature functionality and present it to customers in a meaningful and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with PM, cross-functional teams and TMEs.
• Design and implement the defined features on time and with quality.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical fields.
• Expert-level proficiency in C/C++, YANG, NetConf/REST API implementations, and experience with Python or Go.
• Expert-level experience in Linux, understanding of Kernel, and virtualization technologies.
• Expert-level experience with networking concepts and protocols (DHCP, Bridges, VLAN, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
• Experience in one of public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Hands-on experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring and guiding team members on code quality and system design.
• Exposure to using LLMs and AI agents for coding.
• Experience with containerization and DevOps techniques to deploy solutions to Kubernetes/Cloud.
• Networking experience.
• Proven track record of building quality code while serving customer needs.
