Systems/Software Engineer II (Platform diagnostics software development)

Overview

Develop platform diagnostics software and enhancements for the Junos Evolved network operating system. The role focuses on complex systems software development, debugging, and collaboration across hardware and software teams.

What you'll do

• Design and develop features for the Junos Evolved network operating system platform.
• Maintain software enhancements for the platform.
• Troubleshoot and debug Platform, Interfaces, and Optics system software.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, QA teams, and cross-functional partners.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Lead documentation initiatives.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electronics, telecommunications engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Experience in networking and systems software development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and system debugging.
• Thorough knowledge of Linux or a similar operating system.
• Experience with Linux device drivers, system bring-up, and the Linux kernel.
• Knowledge of hardware and system-level design for carrier-class software.

Nice to have

• Experience working with large codebases.
• Background in networking or embedded platform-software development.
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and practices.
