Overview
Backend Software Engineer 2 building customer-facing systems for SOC teams to search, investigate threats, and remediate malicious messages in a multi-tenant email environment.
What you'll do
- Design and build backend services for search, remediation, and quarantine workflows across multi-tenant enterprise email environments.
- Scope, develop, and deliver features end-to-end with Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, and Product Manager.
- Own system reliability using unit tests, integration testing, and production observability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot customer issues.
- Contribute to API design for customer-facing REST endpoints for security operations teams.
- Communicate in an async-first environment by updating progress, surfacing blockers, and proposing solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers via code reviews and knowledge sharing.
What you'll need
- BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field.
- 3+ years of industry experience in backend development.
- Backend and distributed systems experience.
- Experience building features/components from scratch and operating them in production with operational reliability.
- Ability to work with distributed teams with asynchronous written communication.
- Experience improving service reliability, resiliency, and observability in production systems.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, and system design.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python, Go, AWS, Kubernetes, or Django.
- Experience with search systems, remediation workflows, or operational tooling used by SOC teams.
- Experience with SIEM/SOAR integrations or platform APIs.
- Exposure to email security, email authentication standards (DMARC, DKIM), or cybersecurity products.
