Software Engineer

Overview

Software Engineer for Cisco’s Wireless Platform team, building and validating wireless embedded software across AP, controller, and management layers.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and validate wireless features across the full stack.
• Implement end-to-end wireless features across AP, controller, and management layers.
• Own feature validation including test plans, automation, and system testing.
• Debug complex issues spanning firmware, networking, and system layers.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of wireless features.
• Drive improvements in test coverage, automation, and quality practices.
• Collaborate across multiple engineering teams and promote AI-assisted development and test automation.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of experience in wireless or networking software.
• Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python.
• Understanding of 802.11 protocols and system behavior.
• Experience with wireless security (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X).
• Experience with wireless access point drivers and firmware.
• Experience with test automation and system validation.
• Ability to own features end-to-end (development + testing).

Nice to have

• Experience with Roaming (802.11k/v/r), Mesh networking, and Load balancing/client steering.
• Experience with QoS and traffic management.
• Familiarity with lab setup and test infrastructure.
