Overview

Software Engineer for the MIG Platform Forwarding team, working on high-performance forwarding software for IOS-XR platforms.

What you'll do

• Design and implement forwarding features within the IOS-XR platform.
• Write production-grade C/C++ code for QoS, Mirroring, Slowpath, OAM, EVPN, VPLS, SRv6, Segment Routing, and MPLS.
• Implement NPU data plane logic by translating protocol requirements into NPU microcode and SDK interactions.
• Debug complex defects using logs, core dumps, and packet traces to isolate NPU vs software issues.
• Profile and tune code to minimize latency and maximize throughput.
• Use AI/LLM-based tools for code generation, unit test creation, and static analysis.

What you'll need

• 7–10 years of embedded software development experience for networking products.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and scripting in Python.
• Solid knowledge of carrier-grade networking OS and forwarding architectures.
• Experience debugging complex embedded software issues.
• Experience with tools including Clearcase, Valgrind, DDTS, and GDB.
• Working knowledge of NPU-based data plane architectures (e.g., Silicon One).
• Strong understanding and implementation experience in L2/L3 forwarding features (e.g., QoS, Mirroring, OAM, EVPN/VPLS, SRv6/Segment Routing/MPLS).
