Software Engineer

Overview

Technical Expert role building and supporting high-quality full-stack software solutions with Java and React, providing technical guidance and mentorship to other developers.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test and maintain robust full-stack applications using Spring Boot (Java) and ReactJS.
• Develop and optimize backend systems with a focus on scalability, performance and reliability.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs documented using the OpenAPI specification and tested with tools such as Postman.
• Implement resilient Microservices architecture and manage application deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ensure code quality through unit tests for Java and React applications and participate in rigorous code reviews.
• Manage source code version control using Git and utilize DevOps toolsets including GitHub, Jenkins, Containers and OpenShift.
• Deploy highly available, scalable, maintainable and monitored systems and services.
• Design and implement relational databases using PostgreSQL, including SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Work within Agile/Scrum and SAFe methodologies using tools such as VersionOne/JIRA.
• Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing and integration.
• Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams, gathering requirements, creating technical specifications and communicating technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and support to other developers.

What you'll need

• Engineering graduate with 3-6 years of professional experience in full stack development.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and SOLID principles.
• Proficient in agile development, with experience in SAFe and SCRUM methodologies.
• Strong expertise in Java (including JDK 8+) and its ecosystem.
• Extensive experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Hibernate, and build automation using Maven.
• Proven ability to develop multithreaded, scalable applications and implement Microservices using Java/Spring Framework.
• Skilled in designing and implementing RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
• Proficient in front-end development using the React framework, npm and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and setting up CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Technical expertise with Angular as an alternative to React.
• Cloud experience.
• Good understanding of Software Architecture, Message queue patterns and microservice development.
• Good exposure to Message queue based architecture, RabbitMQ, DRY concepts, code quality and security topics.
• Specific experience with PostgreSQL and knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MarkLogic.
