Software Engineer II (Backend) - Consumer Intelligence & Engagement

Overview

Backend Software Engineer II in the Consumer Intelligence & Engagement organisation, building backend services that power personalisation and recommendation capabilities for consumer experiences.

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable APIs, microservices, and integration services that power AI-driven product discovery, search, recommendation, and personalization experiences.
• Own end-to-end delivery of features from design through deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Partner with AI/ML and Data Engineers to deploy and integrate GenAI, recommendation, and search capabilities into consumer-facing applications.
• Build and enhance search experiences using technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or vector search platforms.
• Drive improvements in performance, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across owned services.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, design reviews, and code quality initiatives.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and practices to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery effectiveness.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience building scalable web applications, backend services, and distributed systems.
• Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot with expertise in API design and microservices architecture.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed applications.
• Experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar platforms.
• Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching solutions such as Redis, and event streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience building and deploying applications on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Good understanding of system design, scalability, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and collaborating across product, data, and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI/ML, Generative AI, LLMs, or RAG-based applications.

• Location: Local Office Pune (Global Function).
• Works closely with the Lead Engineer and Engineering Manager.
