Software Engineer

Overview

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java and Spring Boot applications and microservices for Finastra's financial services software.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise applications.
• Participate in solution design, technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
• Develop and support distributed systems and event-driven applications.
• Perform unit testing and integration testing using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA teams, DevOps engineers, and external teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive issue resolution.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and engineering best practices.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
• Java 11/17+.
• Spring Boot RESTful API development.
• HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
• JSON and XML processing.
• Object-Oriented Design (OOD), SOLID principles, and Design Patterns.
• Secure coding practices.
• Understanding of service communication patterns, resiliency, scalability, and performance considerations.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation concepts.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience supporting production systems and handling critical incidents.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based applications.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Hands-on experience integrating services using Apache Kafka.
• Understanding of message-driven architectures and asynchronous workflows.
• Experience working with integrations across multiple applications and teams.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Vert.x, Hazelcast, and reactive application development.
• Exposure to gRPC-based service integrations.
• Experience in large-scale distributed application environments.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Experience in Payments, Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech domains is a significant advantage.
