Software Engineer II (Quality) - Core Commerce Platform

Overview

Quality Engineer for PUMA’s Core Commerce Platform, designing, automating, and executing tests for Inventory, Promise, and Order Fulfilment capabilities in an omnichannel commerce environment.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scenarios for inventory availability, order promising, sourcing, and fulfilment.
• Build automated, high-concurrency test scenarios to verify oversell prevention mechanisms reserve and allocate inventory correctly.
• Identify, document, and track defects, perform initial failure analysis, and verify fixes with regression coverage.
• Validate sourcing and fulfilment optimization logic, including routing trade-offs like cost, delivery speed, inventory utilization, node capacity, and markdown-avoidance.
• Validate cache refresh and invalidation mechanisms to prevent stale availability data and reduce overselling risk.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and contribute to quality gates and release-readiness evidence.
• Implement API, integration, and contract testing suites for OMS integrations (WMS, ERP, POS, payment providers, and 3PL/carrier systems).

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, test automation, or software quality assurance.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated tests for APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with Java and automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, REST Assured, Selenium, or Playwright.
• Experience with API, integration, contract, and regression testing.
• Understanding of inventory concepts such as availability, reservations, allocation, ATP, or ATS.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and contributing to quality gates.
• Understanding of concurrency and data-consistency risks, including testing transactional or high-volume systems.
