Software Engineer – (Java/Scala/Golang) (Microservices, Kafka & Big Data) 8 to 12 Years

Overview

Software Engineer role focused on building and operating streaming and big data analytics pipelines for Webex Engineering Analytics, using Kafka and distributed processing frameworks.

What you'll do

• Build and operate Kafka-based streaming applications for ingestion, filtering, enrichment, and replication.
• Develop data processing jobs using Apache Spark and/or Apache Flink.
• Design and build scalable distributed systems end to end.
• Share technical solutions via design reviews, code reviews, proof-of-concepts, and show-and-tell sessions.
• Collaborate with development and test teams to design development strategies and implement code for product requirements.
• Contribute ideas to technology, algorithms, and products.

What you'll need

• 8–12 years of experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience with large asynchronous task systems and scalable distributed systems with microservices architecture.
• Strong experience in Java, Scala, Golang (or other modern programming languages/technologies).
• Experience working with Kafka and scaling for high-volume workloads.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data modeling for analytical workloads.
• Adept in using AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, Codex (in design/development and testing).

Nice to have

• Practical experience with Apache Spark and Apache Flink.
• Practical experience with query engines like Trino/Presto.
• Hands-on experience with real-time analytics stores like Apache Pinot/Clickhouse.
• Experience with Docker or configuration management tools.
• Experience with public/private cloud providers like AWS and OpenStack.
• Experience with orchestration and management tools: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
