Software Engineer – Operations Software Automation

Overview

Software Engineer in Applied Materials' Operations Software (OPS SW) team, developing automation solutions that improve engineering efficiency and reduce production cycle time.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions from concept to release.
• Automate engineering and manufacturing workflows to improve productivity.
• Develop and maintain applications using Python, MATLAB, C#, and Java.
• Collaborate with engineers, tool owners, and product teams to identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery.
• Take ownership of released solutions, including support and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–4 years of software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in at least one of: Python, MATLAB, C#, or Java.
• Solid understanding of software design, testing, version control, and code review practices.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive projects end-to-end.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments.
• Exposure to test automation, equipment control, or instrumentation software.
• Experience with data collection and analysis tools.
• Experience working with global teams across time zones.
