Software Engineer, Payments

Overview

Build backend services and APIs for Airbnb's Earnings Dashboard and other payments features that help Hosts grow their income and drive Airbnb revenue, as part of the Payments Growth team.

What you'll do

• Build backend services and APIs for the Earnings Dashboard and other payments features.
• Translate product, compliance and regulatory requirements into clean, well-tested code.
• Build the data and services behind Host performance metrics, recommendations and reports, and keep them accurate and fast for Hosts of every size.
• Implement experimentation, logging and metrics so Product and Data Science can test changes and measure their impact on Hosts and the business.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Finance, Legal and other engineering teams to deliver projects that grow the business.
• Use data to find gaps in conversion, Host engagement and reliability, and drive fixes and improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and operational improvements across the team.
• Architect and implement complex features, focusing on data-driven decision making and performance optimizations.
• Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners to understand and prioritize technical requirements.
• Proactively grow knowledge of leading edge practices and trends.
• Help define and improve coding standards, development processes and best practices.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of experience in a hands-on software engineering role in backend/full-stack development.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Exposure to Java, and experience building services in a distributed microservice environment.
• Fluency in frontend web technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, React and Graphql etc).
• Demonstrated expertise in backend systems within large-scale service-oriented architectures.
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, technical quality and system quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions.

Details

• US - Remote Eligible; may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
• Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (excluded states list applies).
• Base pay range $160,000 - $180,000 USD; may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
