Software Engineering Technical Leader

Overview

Lead software engineering for BIOS, BSP, diagnostics, and embedded systems supporting Cisco routing products. The role involves architecture, device-driver development, testing, debugging, and technical consultation.

What you'll do

• Architect and develop BIOS, BSP, and diagnostics for core and edge routing products.
• Design, develop, and test FPGA and high-speed networking device drivers.
• Develop and execute software test plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug prototypes and validate software.
• Drive software, hardware, and technology solutions for Cisco products.
• Provide expert technical consultation internally and externally.
• Shape technology and industry trends for long-term product impact.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 15+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 12+ years.
• Current experience with C, C++, and Python for embedded systems.
• Experience in hardware and device-driver development.
• Experience with Linux hardware bring-up, multithreading, event handling, and state machines.
• Experience with Sonic, ONIE, BMC, IPMI, and/or Redfish.
• Experience developing, debugging, and validating embedded systems using I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and GPIO.

Nice to have

• Experience with GDB and KGDB kernel debugging tools.
• Experience leading board bring-up, validation, and embedded-system debugging.
• Experience delivering software for large-scale, high-bandwidth systems.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, Layer 2/3 networking, network processors, optical networking, secure boot, CMIS, and SFF standards.
