Overview
Lead the design, development, and testing of solid propulsion hardware for hypersonic vehicles and related aerospace programs.
What you'll do
- Lead technical work on critical propulsion hardware design and development.
- Design, build, and test prototype solid rocket motor components.
- Negotiate propulsion system design elements with suppliers.
- Plan and support ground testing of solid propulsion systems.
- Conduct trade studies and develop analysis and evaluation tools.
- Write technical reports and present results to technical teams and customers.
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of relevant rocket propulsion development or test engineering experience, or 2 years with a master's degree.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or another STEM discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
- Understanding of solid rocket motor performance requirements and component designs.
- Experience with thermal characterization, environmental testing, and static firing.
- Knowledge of applicable manufacturing and testing standards, regulations, policies, and directives.
- Active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
- Residence in or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama, Alabama area.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a similar field.
- Development testing experience in a rapid-iteration environment.
- Experience with DoD, NASA, government test agencies, or aerospace development projects.
- Free-jet testing experience, especially with solid-fuel ramjet systems.
- Missile systems production experience.
- Project planning, scheduling, and supplier management experience.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
Details
- Pay range: $87,100–$157,450 yearly.
- Location requirement: Huntsville–North Alabama, Alabama area.
