Specialist - Master Data Management

Overview

Specialist role within GBS Master Data Management, based in Chennai, focused on materials sourcing, pricing and cost management for Flex's global procurement and supply chain.

What you'll do

• Drive sourcing and pricing strategies in materials quotations.
• Present materials value-add to customers or suppliers and influence customers to use Flex preferred suppliers.
• Interface with customers or suppliers in new project start-up for cost of ownership issues.
• Develop and guide implementation of flexibility and supply assurance plans.
• Manage component cost and price on a local, regional and global basis.
• Track materials financial performance and initiate corrective actions when required.
• Define and implement pricing and costing strategies.
• Coordinate sourcing strategies with Supply Management and customers.
• Develop and implement cost take-down strategies.
• Increase Vendor Managed Inventory, reduce lead time and increase Electronic Data Interface penetration.
• Manage regional supplier contract negotiations, including Memorandums of Understanding, non-disclosure agreements and regional pricing agreements.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
• Measure and report Purchase Price Variance and initiate action plans.
• Monitor and manage supplier times.
• Mitigate shortages and excess on order and on hand.
• Participate in and help global and regional commodity teams.
• Contribute information and data on top spend suppliers for quarterly scorecards.
• Manage material cost reviews.
• Drive initiatives to improve gross material margin.
• Identify, implement and drive actions for Retained Purchase Price Variance (RPPV) optimization.
• Drive reconciliation process with customers (PPV, premium charges, carrying costs, freight charges, excess and obsolete inventory, non-cancelable non-returnable (NCNR) items, etc.).
• Identify opportunities to increase turnkey business and develop materials management plans.
• Coordinate quarterly and monthly PPV hard call process.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, materials sourcing, commodity management, supply chain design or management, or other related area.
• Understanding of cost accounting, electronic component markets, price trends and technologies.
• Background in electronics manufacturing and a thorough understanding of the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) product development process.
• Use of office skills as required: telephones, data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages and database systems.
