Overview

Benchling Engineer (R2) designing, configuring, developing, and evolving Benchling capabilities for the Sample & Reagent Inventory Product Line in a hands-on role.

What you'll do

• Deliver configured and custom Benchling capabilities within a defined product scope.
• Develop, customize, test, and deploy Benchling applications using the Benchling Python SDK and REST APIs.
• Configure Benchling modules (Inventory, Registry, Workflows) to enable sample-management and lab processes.
• Design data models, automations, and workflows that meet scientific and product requirements.
• Build integrations and data flows between Benchling and enterprise/laboratory systems.
• Write clean code and technical documentation; create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Use approved AI-enabled tools to accelerate engineering and automation, with validation and human oversight.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with direct hands-on Benchling Apps development and configuration.
• Proficiency with the Benchling Python SDK and REST APIs.
• Experience configuring/extending Benchling Inventory, Registry, Workflows, data models, or automation capabilities.
• Strong Python skills and experience designing RESTful API integrations.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of clean-code practices, modular design, Git-based version control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud-platform services.

• Based at Hyderabad Tech Center with hybrid working (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
