Sr AI Architect - Conversational AI

Overview

Senior AI Architect focused on Conversational AI, building customer-facing AI capabilities and shaping Twilio’s ML/AI Ops architecture and responsible AI guardrails.

What you'll do

• Define and drive a long-term AI/ML architectural vision aligned to business goals.
• Own the strategic roadmap for the ML/AI Ops platform and tooling across the lifecycle.
• Evaluate and implement LLM/RAG/LLM architecture, agent frameworks, and inference optimization techniques.
• Lead architecture for agentic AI systems including orchestration and contextual grounding.
• Partner with Product Management to translate roadmaps into technical milestones.
• Contribute hands-on expertise and mentor engineers while shifting between strategy and code reviews.

What you'll need

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years building and scaling production-grade ML systems at a platform level.
• Experience with ML Ops and LLM Ops patterns (evaluation metrics, automated retraining loops, and monitoring non-deterministic features).
• Production-grade ML/AI architecture and deployment expertise (transformers, LLM orchestration, embedding models, inference optimization, vector stores).
• Context Engineering lifecycle knowledge (semantic retrieval, contextual compression, state management across multi-turn conversations).
• Cloud services experience using AWS, GCP, or Azure with high-volume data and data stores.
• A Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field (CS/ML/Data Science/Statistics or closely related).
