Staff Research Engineer, Discovery Team

Overview

Staff Research Engineer for the Discovery Team, working end to end to remove technical blockers toward scientific AGI.

What you'll do

• Identify and remove bottlenecks across the full model stack preventing progress toward scientific AGI.
• Develop approaches for long-horizon task completion and complex reasoning for scientific discovery.
• Scale research ideas from prototype to production.
• Create benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for scientific workflows and computer use.
• Implement distributed training systems and performance optimizations for large-scale model development.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of ML research experience.
• Familiarity with large scale language model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Comfort triaging research ideas and diagnosing problems.
• Expertise in performance optimization and distributed computing systems.
• Ability to translate research concepts into scalable engineering solutions.
• Experience shipping ML systems for challenging multi-step reasoning problems.

Details

• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
